LabsLCD Monitor price test 2006
Widescreen displays are becoming common on notebook PCs, but they're still quite rare for desktops. Philips' 200W6 20.1" display has a native resolution of 1,680x1,050, giving it an aspect ratio of 16:10. This unusual size allows you to open two A4 documents side by side. Sadly, the 200W6's image wasn't up to professional standards. Our colour transition and greyscale tests revealed significant banding, and most photographs lacked the contrast range that more accomplished screens produce. At £450, the 200W6 is a reasonably priced widescreen panel and will prove useful if you work on more than one document at a time, but its image quality is below the level designers and publishers require.
