The most striking aspect of Acer's AL1951A is its glossy screen. This increases contrast and gives colours an added kick, but the deep blacks we expected turned out milky as too much light leaked though. The glossy surface also increased ambient reflection, so it's not ideal for use in a brightly lit office. With the lights turned down, however, games and movies looked fantastic. The colours were bright and punchy, but lacked the definition required for intricate photographic or art work.

The stand affords little physical adjustment, but the wall mount is fitted to the base rather than the panel's rear so you can still use the tilt adjustment. It's reasonably cheap, but this doesn't compensate enough for the milky blacks.
