Wireless camera scam foiled by bomb squad 10:55AM, Monday 18th August 2008
Criminals attempting to capture customer's credit card numbers in a shop were foiled by the bomb squad.

Thieves had installed a camera and wireless transmitter by a cash register in a Wal-Mart shop in Florida, where it could capture a clear view of customer's credit card numbers. The thieves then waited in a car outside with a receiver to record the numbers.

However, staff discovered the camera, which was wrapped in black electrical tape, and believed it to be a bomb. The bomb squad were called to the scene, but no explosives were found.

After consulting security cameras police believe that the camera was only in place for an hour, although they are unsure if any credit card numbers were captured in that time.

No suspects have yet been apprehended.
