There are plenty of products around targeted at MP3 mixing, but none are as compact as Tonium's quirky-looking Pacemaker. And while it won't compete with products such as Numark's iDJ2 iPod mixing system, it does offer a surprisingly powerful feature set. You can beat match, create loops, and the touch-sensitive controls work brilliantly. It's pricey but isn't just a toy: its two outputs allow you to connect it to a sound system and headphones simultaneously, so you can monitor and cue up the next track for a perfectly mixed DJ set. Plus, there's a host of effects you can apply to tunes, from basic EQ changes to reverb and hi/lo cut. And inside, there's a high-capacity 120GB hard drive - enough for even the largest of music collections.
