Bobcat also offers support for DDR2 memory running at 400Mhz and an 800Mhz HyperTransport Link.
The whole package will have a TDP of 8 watts - which is double the 4W maximum of Intel's Atom, which could have a detrimental effect on device battery life.
AMD is clearly keen to capture a share of the burgeoning low-cost laptop market, with a string of high-profile manufacturers following Asus's Eee PC lead, including Dell, HP and Acer.
The newly-released Asus Eee PC 901 has ditched Intel's Celeron processor in favour of the Atom, while the MSI Wind will also sport the new processor.
