Vista to be included in Microsoft's "Ultimate Steal" 12:09PM, Wednesday 8th October 2008
Microsoft is set to add Vista to its "Ultimate Steal" offer, which gives students and teachers a massive discount on the company's software.

Microsoft has offered students Microsoft Office 2007 Ultimate edition for only £39 since September 2007. That's about a tenth of the ordinary retail price.

Now, the offer looks set to be extended to other Microsoft

products, including its operating systems. The Ultimate Steal website, says Windows Vista Ultimate Upgrade will be available for £40.95 from 24 October.

The discount isn't quite as impressive as the Office deal, with retailers selling the Vista Upgrade for around £150.

Visio Professional 2007 will also be offered for £36.95, while the slightly less impressive Office Languages Pack 2007 will cost students a mere tenner.

The offer is only open to "students and staff who attend or are employed at an educational institution geographically located in the United Kingdom, Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man."

Microsoft accepts a valid email address from various .ac domains as proof of eligibility, although it reserves the right to make further checks on an applicant's credentials.
