Have the tech sites made an April Fool out of you? 10:08AM, Tuesday 1st April 2008
April Fools' Day inevitably brings a litany of joke stories from the world's tech media, and this year is no different. Here's a few we've found floating in the ether this morning.

Gmail Custom Time

Well all know Google likes to keep updating its applications, but Custom Time? According to Google's blog, this innovative new feature means: "Any email you send to the past appears in the proper chronological order in your recipient's inbox. You can opt for it to show up read or unread by selecting the appropriate option."

Apparently this technological marvel is powered by an "e-flux capacitor to resolve issues of causality".

The blog goes on to list a few beta user testimonials, our favourite being from Michael L, an epistemology professor who claims: "This feature allows people to manipulate and mislead people with falsified time data. Time is a sacred truth that should never be tampered with."

Philosophy mixed with comedy, always a winner.

Scoble virtual human

The Register took the opposite approach with <

its April Fool's story
, switching philosophy for science with the revelation that tech blogger Robert Scoble is actually an IBM research project run amok.

"It basically has the brain power of a dog that's been clubbed to the head a few times," says IBM researcher Don Eigler according to The Register.

"That's why we busted into hysterics when it got a job at Microsoft. We just pushed the button, sent it in and let it go. Next thing we know one of our biggest competitors has hired a projection drone. It's awesome stuff."

So now you know, never trust a blogger.

Microsoft and Apple cosy up

That's right Apple has apparently decided that having an intuitive, responsive interface on its iPhone is not the way forward after all and is instead switching to Windows Mobile for the next generation of its popular smartphone. TechRadar.com has the scoop on that one.

That's not the end of the Apple/Microsoft japery, however, with ITProPortal.com, revealing that Steve Jobs has also struck a deal with Microsoft to flog copies of Microsoft Vista with Macs. It seems almost unbelievable, doesn't it?
