Forums Usage Policy

Site Community Guidelines
Welcome to our community of forums. Here you will find other people with similar interests - although perhaps with differing views - in all things digital. We want people here to feel free to post and read messages without feeling that they are going to be spammed, flamed, harassed or generally given a hard time. We therefore have some rules that everyone has to abide by.

Topics
Although we are happy for topics raised to be free ranging, try to bear in mind the focus of the forum. If you raise a subject in the appropriate place you are far more likely to get a response than if you post it in an inappropriate place where people are just going to think you are daft.

Mind Your Language
While we don't expect the language within the forums to be that of the vicarage tea party, anyone who indulges in, among other things, abusive, sexually or racially objectionable, defamatory or harassing language of any sort will find their messages deleted as soon as they are discovered. Persistent offenders will find themselves banned. We simply ask that, when posting messages, you show the kind of consideration that you would expect to receive yourself.

Flaming
Flaming and harassing other members of the forums is strictly forbidden. We will not permit anyone to post messages which are insulting to either a single member or to a group. This goes double if it is sexually, racially or ethnically offensive or if we deem it to be libellous or otherwise constitute a criminal offence or an incitement to commit a criminal offence.

Keep it legal
While we are on the subject, the forums here are for the dissemination of ideas, views and general discussion. It is not the place to conspire, or incite others, to commit criminal activities which include, but is not limited to, software piracy, cracking of copy protection schemes, hacking of computers or networks and virus distribution or distribution of pornographic material. This is not to close the door on discussion of these issues. You can, for example, talk about the issue of viruses but not the detail of how to write or disseminate them.

Posting Images
Members are permitted to add images to their profiles. Sexually explicit or offensive images are not allowed. If you think your image may cause offence, we ask you to email a moderator for guidance. Clearly offensive or pornographic images may be removed by Dennis Interactive at its sole discretion without reason given or warning issued.

Images used in both profiles and signatures should be of reasonable proportions. Images that are too large affect the performance and usability of the forums and are not allowed.

Advertising
No-one is allowed to post an advertisement, link to products and services, tout for business or solicit for work of any kind, whether paid for or not, in any of the forums. This includes any kind of get-rich-quick scheme, such as pyramid selling. If anyone finds themselves the recipient of unsolicited email or advertising without our permission as a result of their membership of the forum, please let us know.

General Behaviour
In summary then, members may not post libellous, defamatory, obscene, racially or ethnically abusive content of any kind; discuss how to or violate the intellectual property, copyright, trademarks or patents of others; contravene UK or international law or disseminate viruses or other potential disruptive software programs. Members must also not disguise the origin of any Messages, impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent any affiliation with any person or entity, collect or store other users' personal data, or restrict or inhibit any other user from using the Forums.

Bans
Dennis Interactive and its agents reserve the right, at its sole discretion and without warning, to terminate or restrict a member's access to these forums. If you violate the above rules, any offending message will be removed and you may be contacted by email by a moderator warning you of your behaviour. Persistent offenders risk permanent bans.
